If you want to work in many real estate roles in Victoria, you may need to complete the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. Many people still refer to this as the Agents Representative Certificate or Agents Rep Certificate.

A common entry requirement for many real estate roles in Victoria.

What can I do with the Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice?

Once you have completed the required qualification, you may be able to work under a licensed estate agent in roles such as property management, leasing, sales, business broking, and buyers advocacy.

How long will it take to complete?

The time it takes depends on the training provider, delivery method, and how much time you can commit to study. Some people complete the course within a few weeks when studying intensively, while others take several months when balancing study with work or family commitments.

Before enrolling, check the course structure, assessment requirements, support offered by the provider, and whether the course is recognised for Victorian real estate work.

Is it still called an Agents Rep Certificate?

The older “Agents Representative Certificate” name is still commonly used, but the current qualification is the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice.

The course includes 18 units: 5 core units and 13 elective units.

How much does it cost?

Course costs vary depending on the training provider, delivery style, support included, and whether you study online or in person. It is worth comparing a few providers before enrolling, as fees can vary significantly.

When comparing courses, look beyond price. Check whether the provider is registered, what student support is included, how assessments are completed, and whether the course suits your schedule.

Where can I do
the training?

There are many registered training organisations that offer the Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. Some well-known options include the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, LinkLearn, Entry Education, and other Victorian real estate training providers.

Before enrolling, confirm the course is suitable for the type of real estate work you want to do in Victoria.

Can I work in real estate without this certificate?

Some real estate and property roles may not require the Certificate IV, particularly roles in reception, administration, accounts, marketing, and some owners corporation support positions.

However, if you want to work in leasing, property management, or sales, many employers will expect you to have completed, or be in the process of completing, the Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice.
